The Unlawful Detainer Story - Help Us Tell It

Posted By: Ryan Makinster Advocacy News,

The unlawful detainer quagmire in King County has gotten so bad that housing providers across the state and even outside the state have become aware of it. And it is not just the industry that has taken note. The Seattle City Council has referenced it in meetings, King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn has spoken publicly about it and even the Seattle Time editorial board has weighed in.

In order to affect change, we need this dialogue to continue.  We know many of you have stories about residents with substantial past due amounts, who you are unable to have productive conversations with regarding their past due amount or who you are unable to find positive legal outcomes with.  We need these stories.  As we continue this discussion locally, and at the state level, examples of the issues we are facing as housing providers is imperative in highlighting the dysfunction the system is experiencing and the need for a positive resolution for everyone involved. Without a functional rental market, our housing crisis will only get worse.

Please take a moment and send us your stories/examples here (To access the form you will need to login with your WMFHA member account).
