2025 Day on the Hill

Posted By: Carter Nelson Advocacy News,

Yesterday, February 6, despite some weather difficulties for our members, 180 WMFHA members and staff gathered at the Capitol in Olympia for our annual Day on the Hill to meet with 81 legislators or their staff, including the Lieutenant Governor of Washington. Together, we advocated for the multi-family housing industry and voiced our concerns on critical bills impacting the housing market.

Our members focused their efforts on three key pieces of legislation being considered this session: Opposing SHB 1217/SB 5222 (rent stabilization) and supporting SB5661 (state preemption) and HB1621 (adding court commissioners).

We are especially proud to report that many of this year's participants were first-time attendees, including our 2025 Emerging Leaders cohort of 20 and a dedicated group of 6 members who traveled all the way from Eastern Washington to make their voices heard. This strong showing of solidarity, with members stepping out of their comfort zones to meet directly with lawmakers, highlights the growing importance of advocacy at all levels of government.

A heartfelt thank you to each of the 180 WMFHA members who joined us for Day on the Hill. Your participation and your willingness to engage in tough conversations have made a tangible difference—and will help us drive real change.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our generous Day on the Hill corporate sponsors for their support, ensuring that every attendee had a successful and rewarding experience:
