How long have you worked in the industry?
I’ve worked in the industry for almost four years now. I feel fortunate to have landed here!
What is your favorite(s) WMFHA event and why?
Up until last year, I would have enthusiastically said that the Chili Cook-Off was my favorite WMFHA event. It’s such a fun event for a fantastic cause, and I love how everyone puts so much effort into their tables! However, the Fit2Be virtual step challenge for the American Cancer Society is now right up there with the Chili Cook-Off. This one was near and dear to my heart because I have a close friend who passed away from cancer in January of 2020. I’m now raising her son, and we decided to step/raise money together in her honor. It was an incredible bonding experience, and it made all the blisters worth it.
Beyond being great for my family, Fit2Be was also a fantastic team-building event, both within our company and within the industry. Yes, there was some healthy competition, but we all came together for such an important cause, which showcases how impactful we are as a group. I’m looking forward to winning…er…participating again this year. 😉
Why do you think it’s important to give back to our communities?
Van Gogh said, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together”, and this sentiment is one of the main reasons I am passionate about giving back to our communities. We may not be able to change the world overnight, but giving back to our communities and making them stronger contributes to a better, stronger society overall.
What’s something you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love going to art museums. I just did a day trip to LA to view an exhibit at the Getty Museum. I also love rowing with the Commencement Bay Rowing Club. While I don’t particularly enjoy running, I do enjoy where it takes me. At the end of 2025, I’ll have run in four countries and on two different continents. Just five more continents to go!
What’s a pet peeve?
With two teenagers, I have a few pet peeves, but the latest is thinking we have grocery items in the pantry/refrigerator, only to find empty boxes and containers.
Where is the favorite place you’ve traveled to?
As much as I enjoy international travel, my favorite destination is Oregon. I grew up in Oregon, and most of my family lives there, so it always feels like going home. I love it all, but especially Hood River, Sunriver, the Oregon Coast, Ashland, and Eugene, of course. Go, Ducks! 😊
