WMFHA Joins Coalition To Oppose Mandatory Affordable Inclusion in Kirkland
WMFHA along with a number of trade association and multi-family developers sent a letter to the Kirkland Planning Commission highlighting concerns NE 85th St Station Area Plan Affordable Housing Requirements as proposed by ARCH and city staff.
Specifically, the coalition is concerned with the proposed mandatory requirement of 15% at 50% AMI within the station area with no incentives. We know this makes the production of housing more difficult, if not impossible, due to the current economic realities. In fact, the report to the commission staff and ARCH admitted that it isn’t economically feasible in today’s market.
