Your Advocacy Team in DC
Each year the National Apartment Association (NAA) hosts Advocate- their annual advocacy conference- where NAA members gather at Capitol Hill to network, to learn issues, and collectively take action. All WMFHA members are automatically members of NAA. As Congress settles into Capitol Hill, this conference serves to help introduce members to the rental housing industry and remind others what we need to make the multifamily housing industry thrive. Advocate was a prime opportunity to meet with our representatives by bringing together rental housing suppliers, property managers, owners, and operators in Washington D.C. last week.
During our day on the hill we were able to highlight and ask for support for a number of priorities of NAA and WMFHA at the federal level.
- End the CARES Act Notice to Vacate
- S.3755/H.R. 802, “The Respect State Housing Laws Act”
- Lower Local Barriers to Development & Increase Housing Supply
- S. 1688/H.R. 3507, “The Yes In My Back Yard Act”
- Improve the Section 8 Program and Head Off Source of Income Protection
- S. 32/HR. 4606, “The Choice in Affordable Housing Act”
Your on the hill team met the offices of:
Senator Patty Murray
