Washington has a new Governor- Transition Subcommittee Presentation

Our advocacy team recently had the opportunity to present in front of Lieutenant Governor Denny Heck’s transition committee on housing. The Lt Governor has been tasked with briefing new Governor Bob Ferguson on the current housing landscape and the most pressing housing issues facing our state, as well as providing potential solutions to address these challenges. During the presentation, we highlighted key struggles our members are facing, including difficulties with the eviction process, the lack of consistency in regulations across the state as an increasing number of cities and counties pass their own policies, and the confusion it creates for both housing providers and residents. We made a strong case for focusing on supply-side solutions—build more housing—rather than implement more burdensome regulations. It’s a critical time, and we’re working hard to ensure that the right policies are put in place to address our state’s housing crisis.
