Summary of the RLTA and Select Local Jurisdictions Updated

 This summary of the Washington Residential Landlord-Tenant Act was created by Joe Puckett, founding Board Member and former Director of Government Affairs. Each year, to coincide with the Virtual Legal Symposium (VSL), this document is updated, summarizing new laws passed by the Washington legislature and select local jurisdictions.

Highlights in this update include the changes due to the passage of ESSB 5197 “Eviction Notices” and  SHB 1074 “Damage Claims.” In addition, a chart outlining tenant protections,by jurisdiction, was also included. The “Summary of the RLTA and Select Local Jurisdictions Guide” will be provided to VSL attendees, with it serving as a basis for a number of discussions.
