Advanced Facilitator Training Recap
Is there anywhere better than Seattle in August? We sure do love to show off our beautiful Emerald City in the summer. WMFHA had the opportunity to showcase the Pacific Northwest for a national audience on August 8th – 10th when we hosted the National Apartment Association’s Advanced Facilitator Training (AFT).
The AFT class was comprised of 24 industry professionals, 12 of which were from the state of Washington, along with 3 National Apartment Association Education Institute Senior Faculty Members, and 1 NAA Representative.
AFT is a train-the-trainer course delivered over three days. This intensive practicum provides participants with valuable, high-quality, specialized training on session planning and presentation skills. AFT prepares instructors to deliver the NAAEI’s credentials and learning programs critical to advancing careers and promoting professionalism among apartment industry team members.
We asked some of our local participants to give us some feedback about how they were impacted by the class:
Saniya Regmi, Training & Development Associate at GRE Management said: “I choose to attend the class because I wanted to have more structure in my training and gain confidence. I walked away feeling confident with finding different ways to engage our students. I also made long term friendships and connections with my peers.”
Kayla Stevens, Regional Manager at Avenue 5 said: “I will never present the same! I was able to learn how to leverage my passion and how to organize a session and include engagement activities. I learned a lot about myself through this process and gained more self-confidence.”
Renee Denomme, Operations Specialist at Greystar said: "There were so many takeaways for me from this class. AFT helped me to structure my presentations better, maximize questions and activities in my sessions and ultimately build a foundation of knowledge that I can depend upon in the future!"
It wasn’t all work and no play, however. We were able to take the group out on a one-hour cruise on the Puget Sound where they got to take in all the beautiful sights of the city. And a big thank you to ServPro Central Seattle for sponsoring the event!
All of the participants that completed the 3 day course are now considered NAAEI Faculty Members. This makes them eligible to teach NAA credential courses and other classes. They are required to donate a certain number of instruction hours a year to their local association to maintain their faculty status, so you can expect to see them soon teaching a WMFHA class.
WMFHA congratulates all of our AFT graduates and we look forward to hearing many success stories from you all as you implement your new skills!
