State Pre-emption on Local Rent Control Still Intact
The two bills, one House and one Senate, that would have removed the state preemption on town, city and county rent control failed to pass out of their first committee of referral. Although they are able to continue through the process next year, the appetite to move them seemed much less that the other rent control bills under consideration. In fact, neither was even scheduled for a hearing prior to the House and Senate policy committee cutoffs.
