King County Unlawful Detainer Update
At a virtual roundtable on October 30, WMFHA Advocacy staff gave an overview of the “new” unlawful detainer process in King County. In addition to the brief overview and current state of the process, the majority of the roundtable was dedicated to getting feedback from members about the new process and to hear their stories regarding egregious unlawful detainer situations. We still need these stories for our PR strategy to tell our story to the public. Please reach out to Carter with your stories.
Although the unlawful detainer delays continue to be a problem, some members have had success under the new court rules, adopted mid-August, that allow for quicker first hearings, at which time a default judgement is sometimes granted. If you have success or problems with the new process, we would love to get your feedback.
You can view the slide deck here. If you have any questions about the new process, please contact Ryan.
