Do You Seattle MFTE?

Posted By: Ryan Makinster Advocacy News,

The Seattle Multi-Family Tax Exemption (MFTE) program is up for reauthorization so now is the time to make your voice heard about the program. What is working, what isn’t and what can make the program better.  If you currently participate, are considering participating, or even considering not reauthorizing your current property, please join us for a meeting on October 23 with Seattle’s Office of Housing to discuss the program. This is a good program supported by our members, but needs to function properly or it will not achieve success. After meeting with Council President Sara Nelson regarding our concerns, the Office of Housing reached out with the opportunity below. Please direct any question about the feedback session the the hosts, the Office of Housing.

To prepare for reauthorization of Seattle’s MFTE Program 7, the Office of Housing (OH) is considering potential policy and administrative updates.

Please join OH staff for a presentation and virtual feedback session on October 23rd. OH will present proposed changes to the program at this feedback session. These updates seek to:

  • Simplify the income verification process and documentation requirements
  • Improve clarity around building comparability requirements
  • Balance the public benefits of the program with costs

This feedback session will be a formal opportunity for constituents to provide input on the proposals.

The event is intended for property owners, developers, and property managers of buildings that participate in the MFTE program.
