Tapas, Topics and Politicos
We had the pleasure of hosting elected officials at both of our Tapas and Topics events this month. In Everett, we welcomed Mayor Cassie Franklin, who updated attendees on the impressive growth Everett has seen in recent years, as well as some exciting things coming up in the near future.
On the other side of the water in Bremerton we were lucky enough to host Representative Michelle Caldier and Jim Henderson, both house candidates in legislative district 26. Rep Caldier, candidate for position 2, highlighted her time in the legislature and her success since taking office in 2015. To claps of the crowd, her successful effort to lower Tacoma Narrows Bridge toll was highlighted by WMFHA member Jennifer Firth. Jim, candidate for position 1, highlighted his 24 years in the multi-family industry, his efforts on our behalf in Olympia over the last 5 years as a lobbyist and his renewed focus on public safety.
Including elected officials in our events as well as onsite tours is an integral part of our advocacy program and success. Often time we are portrayed by our detractors and even some elected officials as behemoth business entities, but by offering these experiences they are able to see us as friends, neighbors, mothers, fathers; family members.
Do you have a personal relationship with an elected official that you'd like to see at a future Tapas and Topics? Let us know!
