What the bill does:

  • Allows property management maintenance  staff to achieve specialty electrical certification through direct maintenance experience rather than a formal apprenticeship program
  • Staff will be put through 24 hours of required  Classroom Time
  • If they pass the test at 720 hours, they can work unsupervised for the remaining 1280 hours needed to become a journeyman
  • This is called a "Modified Training Card"
  • This creates a safer work environment statewide, revenues for the state and potential lower insurance rates
